Product Description

A Flame-Resistant (FR) Safety Suit is a critical piece of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) engineered to safeguard workers from flash fires, electric arcs, and thermal hazards                                                                 Core Fabric & Material Specs
The core of an FR suit depends on whether the protection is chemically treated or built into the fibers.
  • Inherent FR Material: Made of synthetic fibers like Nomex (Meta-Aramid), Kevlar (Para-Aramid), or Modacrylic blends. The fire resistance can never wash out.
  • Treated FR Material: Typically 100% Cotton or 88% Cotton / 12% Nylon blends treated with a flame-retardant chemical finish (e.g., Pyrovatex or Proban).
  • Fabric Weight: Ranges from 150 GSM to 450 GSM. Industrial daily workwear averages 230280 GSM for optimal breathing and durability.
  • Anti-Static Integration: Includes 1% to 3% carbon or anti-static fibers woven into the grid to eliminate spark hazards in explosive environments.

Key International Safety Standards
Every certified FR safety suit must state compliance with one or more of these global testing parameters:
Standard Code Purpose / Protection Type
EN ISO 11612 Global standard protecting against heat and flame (Convective, Radiant, Contact heat).
NFPA 2112 US Industrial standard for flash fire protection for industrial personnel.
ASTM F1506 Performance specification for materials exposed to electrical arc hazards.
NFPA 70E / EN 61482 Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace (Arc Flash Category/CAT ratings).
EN 1149-5 Electrostatic dissipative performance requirements.

Construction & Hardware Features
A proper safety suit layout focuses heavily on hardware that will not melt or conduct heat.
  • Zippers: Heavy-duty brass or FR plastic two-way zippers, completely concealed by an FR fabric flap with snap/Velcro enclosures.
  • Threads: Stitched exclusively with 100% Aramid or Kevlar heat-resistant threads.
  • Stress Points: All pockets, crotch, and arm joints feature bar-tack reinforcement to prevent tearing under tension.
  • Visibility: 50 mm (2-inch) flame-retardant silver reflective tape stitched cleanly across the shoulders, arms, and legs.
  • Pockets & Utility: Minimum of 5 pockets (2 chest, 2 side cross, 1 pen slot) featuring protected flap closures to stop sparks from sliding inside.
